Matt’s been skinny before but then would be bigger later on again. For that reason, and the fact it’s very Biblical, I’ve always “assumed” he has lost his weight by fasting (extended water fasts) rather than gastric bypass.

I have no proof of it, but just “figured” that Matt may have done a long fast in previous years but did not stay with the mostly raw diet afterward. Hence all your weight will come back.

So I “figured” maybe when he was ready to fully commit to permanent change in eating habits for a lifetime (and it does take advance mental preparation and education on the subject), that he probably did another lengthy fast and has stuck with it this time.

This makes more sense to me than the surgery “guestimate” because of the various Heath docs they’ve had on their programs and the discussions re healthy eating, fasting, etc.

You can lose a good bit of weight by fasting alone, but if you continue with a mostly veggie/fruit diet, and most of that raw, you will continue to lose slowly until your body reaches it’s perfect weight.

Someone said Matt had the earmark “looks” of someone who had gastric surgery. I say he has the earmarks of someone who has done a lengthy fast. ;) as you can look pretty thin and bony after the fact and with continued raw diet. But your weight will balance out over time.

Fasting is the best and most victorious thing you can do for your body, mind, spirit, whether you have weight issues or not. It’s an awesome experience! My bet is Matt Hagee has been fasting. And God bless him either way!

On a side note: I didn’t know John Hagee hates Joel Osteen. What’s up with that? Isn’t Texas big enough for both of them? ;)

John Hagee, the moral compass for the poor dears of San Antonio divorced his first wife after 15 years of marriage and married his present wife, who was a member of his church! How’s THAT for leading by example! Rule # 1 for ministers: NEVER get into a relationship with parishioners. Ah, but like everything else, including the Deadly Sin of Gluttony….it applies to everyone ELSE but Hagee! HYPOCRITE!! And a fat one at that.
And those poor, pathetic followers applaud and hang on his every word. And it looks like Matthew has discovered that fame and fortune can come with a little charisma. So his has shed his porky past and is now a mere shadow of his obese former self. So many televangelist’s sons have discovered the lucrative “business” of religion. As Big John get’s closer to the Big Trip South, Matthew is clearly postured to take over the empire the moment his dad croaks his last venemous sermon. Up with Israel. Down with gays and lesbians. Global Warming is a fantasy. In short, I think anyone who is foolish enough to follow him deserves just what they get.

I don’t know if you’ve seen the recent Newsweek article by Lisa Miller extolling Karen Armstrong’s book “A Case for God”. It annoyed me and I would love to know your take on it.
