I’ve decided to take a bit of a sabbatical from blogging – with a new baby due any day, severely curtailed internet access and, frankly, little to add to what I’ve posted over the last year or so, it seems prudent to put Right To Think on hold for a while. I may recommence writing next year, when Wifeshui goes back to work and I become a full-time house-husband, but for the time being, you’ll have to manage without my outpourings of snark. No promises though – this could spell the end of my career as an atheist blogger, for reasons not dissimilar to those the Exterminator gave when he bowed out of the game last December. Arguing the toss with theists, whilst fun, has ceased to seem like a worthwhile use of my energies. There was a time when I thought the question, “Does God exist?” was the most important one a human could ask, but now I realise that it’s on a par with “Does the Loch Ness Monster exist?” it seems far less relevent. The question, for me at least, is answered, and I see no real reason to carry on defending my viewpoint to all and sundry.
Never say never, though; Right To Think may return at some point, so keep your RSS feeds tuned! In the meantime, feel free to browse through the archives on the left, and I’ll no doubt see you on the comments thread at someone else’s blog.
All the best,
yunshui

I wish you good fortune.

I understand. Lately I’ve been thinking it seems like more trouble than it’s worth, too. Well the fresh updates will be missed, but perhaps later, when you’re in-between nappie changes, you’ll be compelled you to write.

In the overall scheme of things, blogging simply isn’t that damn important! I’m sure most of your loyal readers (me included) will miss your commentaries, but life is meant to be lived and each of us must decide what paths to follow to this end. I hope you decide to come back at some point. If not, it’s been a helluva fun ride!!

From a purely selfish perspective, I’m sorry to see you go. Philly and Taoist are right, though. When you set blogging and living side-by-side, there’s no contest.
Having said that, you’re always welcome over at “Postcards”. Any time you feel like commenting or,indeed, delivering a postcard, mi blog es su blog.

You’re the last person I ever imagined quitting before I did. But, if I had a baby on the way, I would do exactly the same. Babies demand a lot of attention, especially during the first few months when they can’t even sit up by themselves.
I bet we will see you around once in a while after you little lady’s first six months.
Here is a thought. Turn your blog into baby happenings for a while. It would be hilarious to hear you describe, say, a sleepless night or her first bath.
In any case, thank you for all the great posts.

Should that me a (semi) final curtain? Or perhaps a (maybe) final curtain?
In any event, enjoy the new addition, and come back and comment.

Good luck :)
I feel that the question is less relevant for me too, now. May be it figures why I hardly ever blog about religion these days; when I do- I rant about people and their blind faith…
All the best for the future.

Sorry to see you go, yunshui, but your family must come first. I dread to think how much of my current lifestyle would have to go if my wife and I were to start a family… still, I hear it’s a great thing, so we may still.
I’m starting to suspect that just being a good friend, good parent and all round decent chap who as it turns out, happens to be an atheist may have a far bigger impact on theist ideas.
Good luck. Hopefully we’ll see you around in “real life” sometime.

First Lynet, and now you, yunshui! All the good atheist bloggers are withdrawing from the field. It’s a crying shame – and almost enough to make me reconsider the hours per day I spend on my own blog!
In all seriousness, however, I’ve enjoyed your writing a great deal – by turns insightful, informative, and laugh-out-loud funny. I know real life has to take precedence, though, and I wish you all the best. If you should ever choose to return, we’d welcome you back; if not, it’s been a pleasure, regardless. Fare thee well!
(P.S. I’ll contact you by e-mail about the project – I’m sure you know whereof I speak.)

I understand your decision, your family is a lot more important than your blog. I’ll check in now and then to see if you’re updating occasionally. Best of luck.
